Year Round Camping

Year-round Use of Camp

Gorham Scout Ranch is designed for use twelve months out of the year. The summer months are primarily reserved for council-organized summer programs. During the rest of the year, the camp is available for training events, unit camping, family camping, Order of the Arrow events, and various conferences.

Camp facilities are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Check with the Council Service Center for availability of equipment and facilities or to make reservations. Please fill-out the appropriate Camp Facilities Use Form in addition to a Local or National Tour Permit. These forms are available from the Great Southwest Council Service Center in addition to being listed below.

Camp Facilities Use Form

There are also specific policies and procedures that must be followed.  All groups should review Camp Use Policies (listed on the Camp Facilities Use Form), and groups considering climbing/rappelling should review the Camp Climbing/Rappelling Policies.

If you have any special requests or needs, please let us know.  We will do our best to make your visit to the Gorham Scout Ranch an enjoyable one.

Overnight Hikes from Albuquerque

As part of his Wood Badge ticket, Scott Whalen, Varsity Scout coach for troop 750, has put together a document outlining  5 overnight backpacking trips that can be accomplished from Albuquerque.  This could involve leaving after work on Friday and coming back on Saturday.  Scott has struggled with where to go backpacking when time is limited, as others do also.  Hopefully this document will help them out.  This very complete document is available on this website.  Thanks for your work Scott!

Cub Scout Camping Approved Sites

As part of his Wood Badge ticket, Dennis Snodgrass, Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner for the Mesa Verde ?District, has put together a document of approved campsites for Cub Scouts to use in the Southwest Colorado area.  Thanks Dennis, to you and your team that collected this information.
